to Benefit Catholic Relief Services Farming Project in Myanmar
Saturday, August 1, 7pm
Special Guest: Bishop Michael McGovern
The Catholic Relief Services Diocesan Global Solidarity Team is hosting a virtual trivia night on Zoom on Saturday, August 1 at 7:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to create teams of 6-8 people from anywhere in the country for a fun night of fundraising. Money raised will magnify the contributions of Jackie and Dennis Frey and other farmers in our diocese who are supporting the Catholic Relief Services and Growing Hope Globally Program in Myanmar. The program helps farmers there prevent soil erosion.
Each team will be given a breakout room for socializing and answering their questions. Individuals may also register and will be assigned a team with other individual registrants. There is no set registration fee but those registering will be asked to make a donation of $15-$25 per person. Cash prizes will be given for the top two scoring teams.
Catholic Relief Services carries out the commitment of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to assist those who experience poverty around the world. CRS’ work is motivated by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Catholic social teaching to uphold the sacredness and dignity of all human life and to foster charity and justice in the communities where CRS serves. As a Christian response to hunger, Growing Hope Globally links the grassroots energy and commitment of rural communities in the U.S. with the capability and desire of smallholder farmers in developing countries to grow lasting solutions to hunger. For more information about the CRS and Growing Hope Globally Myanmar program go to https://www.growinghopeglobally.org/program/myanmar-tedim-3/ . There are currently 12 farm households in the Belleville Diocese officially partnered with CRS and Growing Hope initiatives.
