RESPECT LIFE CORNER - ASSISTED SUICIDE 6 PART SERIES

Part 1: What happens with assisted suicide?

A doctor prescribes lethal drugs that can be sent through the mail to a person wishing to end his or her life if diagnosed with a terminal illness. There is no requirement that a doctor or anyone be present with a person in case something would go wrong upon consumption of the drugs. The person may take hours to die. Assisted suicide is not dignified, it is deadly. Tell your state legislators: Vote NO on SB 3499 - assisted suicide. Visit www.ilcatholic.org for additional information and resources and the letter attached to bulletin.

PASTOR'S NOTE

Every year there is the one special day when we reflect on our life and realize that time is linear and never stops, that day is our birthday. For me it is November 14th and I am glad to share this day with some of you. I want to wish all of you who celebrate birthdays throughout the whole month of November, as well as the other months, all the best and may God bless you abundantly with His grace and many gifts. Our life is a gift from God and His Spirit, which is in each one of us, encourages us to say thanks to Him for that gift. We did not choose to live but He chose us and sent us to this world according to His eternal plan. We may not understand sometimes how our life unfolds and why certain things happen, but we trust that God has it all figured out. Of course, we appreciate our parents and all of our predecessors who participated with God in the process of creation and constant recreation of the whole human family until the end of times. Someday when history comes to its completion, we will meet all of those before us and after us and understand the whole meaning of life that God created for Himself. Until then, let's be appreciative to God for every single day with its ups and downs, for every kind of experience that helps us to become better human beings. Let us cherish life from conception to natural death and realize that we are all children of God. I would like to thank everyone for the birthday wishes and the gift of prayer and any other gifts you share with me on my birthday. May God reward you for all of the good that you do and shower your families with His blessings.

Thank you! Fr. Slawomir
