DIOCSE OF BELLEVILLE CALLING YOUNG ADULTS INTO LEADERSHIP
Dear young adults across the diocese of Belleville,
I am reaching out to you to invite you to consider being part of the Diocese of Belleville Young Adult Council.
The purposes of the council are:
1) To take a leading role in the evangelization of your peers and the rest of society.
2) To help build a community of friendship and support among your peers.
3) To be the voice of Catholic young adults in the diocese through advocating to the diocesan leadership through the Office of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry.
4) To advise me on how my office and other offices can better support you in your role as leaders in the Church.
The council already has members, but we are looking for more. If you are interested, please contact me at 618-722-5037 or mloyet@diobelle.org. Include in your message your full name, contact information, parish you currently attend, and a brief description of why you would like to join the council. Please respond by the end of day on Friday, June 16.
Sincerely,
Mark Loyet
Director of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry
FROM BISHOP MICHAEL MCGOVERN'S OFFICE
As some of you have heard in the media, the Illinois Attorney General released a report focusing on how the six Catholic diocese of Illinois have handled allegations of sexual abuse against clergy. Bishop McGovern has prepared a letter, a video and brief document as an initial response to the Attorney General's report. Everyone is invited to review our Bishop's materials which you can access on the Diocese of Belleville website (www.diobelle.org). We thank you who assist us in creating a safe environment for our young people in our parishes, schools, and PSR programs. May the Holy Spirit help us to bring healing to those who are hurting and strength to continue the important work of safeguarding our youth.
