Eternal rest grant unto Francis, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon him.
I think we too are the people who, on the one hand, want to listen to Jesus, but on the other hand, at times, like to find a stick to beat others with, to condemn others. And Jesus has this message for us: mercy. I think - and I say it with humility - that this is the Lord's most powerful message: mercy.- Pope Francis Homily on March 17, 2013 -

We the parishioners of St. John the Baptist,
brothers and sisters in Christ, accept as our mission:
to know our faith and share it with others, to continue to grow spiritually with respect for the sacraments, to celebrate the liturgy and the Holy Eucharist as the center of our Christian life, to live by truth and love, to serve those in need, to teach by example, and thereby strengthen and inspire our Parish family in accordance with the Roman Catholic Church.

THE 2025 CATHOLIC SERVICE AND MINISTRY APPEAL
Parish Goal $9,846 ~ Pledge to Date $500
Your contribution to the CSMA enables the Office of Education to impact the lives of over 10,283 students at 25 Catholic grade schools, three Catholic high schools and in PSR classes throughout our Belleville Diocese. If you haven’t already done so, we prayerfully ask you to consider making a gift to the 2025 Appeal today…no amount is too large or too small! Thank you.

CATHOLIC HOME MISSION APPEAL - APRIL 26-27
Support CHMA today. Nearly 40% of dioceses in the United States and its current and former territories are considered mission territories because they are unable to fund essential pastoral activities for their communities. Your support funds religious education, seminary formation, lay ministry training, and other programs that build vibrant faith communities right here in the United States. Please be generous. Find more information by clicking file below or at www.usccb.org/home-missions. Collection envelopes are located in your envelope packets.
THE MESSENGER
The Messenger is collecting information for their Memorial Day issue. Please submit any of the following information by May 1 to editor@bellevillemessenger.org
If anyone in your parish has a story to tell about someone they knew or a relative who died during a war.
Names of service members who were killed in action (WWII onward) in The Messenger. We have a list from years past, but if we have missed anyone or there has been a death since last year at this time, please send that person’s name, rank if it is known, and the war in which they served and died.
A list of service people who are presently serving in harm’s way, asking for prayers for their safe return home.
RESPECT LIFE CORNER
On the Second Sunday of Easter, the Church celebrates the Sunday of Divine Mercy. It provides an important opportunity to share Christ’s message of mercy, especially with those who suffer because of their participation in one or more abortions. By the age of 45, as many as 1 in 3 women have had an abortion, and a similar number of men and family members have been involved. Many feel that abortion is “the unforgivable sin.” They need to hear that, through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, God forgives every sin of a repentant heart, even the sin of abortion. In fact, Jesus’ message to St. Faustina is that the greater the sinner, the greater the right to His mercy.
